BIPOC Fellowship Program

About the Fellowship

The BIPOC Fellowship Program was created in 2021 by the Sustainable Capacity Foundation (SCF) to address the underrepresentation of Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour in leadership roles within Canada’s environmental non-profit sector.

In 2022, Sustainable Capacity Solutions (SCS) joined as a core partner, bringing networks, outreach, and training expertise to ensure fellows gain the tools, connections, and visibility needed to thrive.

What the Fellowship Offers

The BIPOC Fellowship supports leaders through:

  • Mentorship & Networking – connecting fellows with peers, alumni, and established leaders in the sector.

  • Targeted Funding – through the Micro-Grants Program, fellows have launched and sustained community-driven sustainability initiatives across Canada.

  • Collaborative Spaces – quarterly virtual roundtables and annual regional networking gatherings create opportunities for connection, accountability, and celebration.

  • Public Speaking & Visibility – fellows share their voices at events such as the SEO Star Awards and the Ecological Fair at St. Paul’s University, reaching more than 200 participants nationwide.

Together, SCF and SCS have helped build a vibrant and inclusive community of changemakers who are advancing environmental justice and sustainability nationwide.
